AEMG’s Finance & Investments Division

The Finance & Investments division plays a critical strategic role in supporting AEMG’s financial sustainability, operational performance and long-term growth. It provides leadership in financial planning, resource allocation, investment evaluation and regulatory compliance, ensuring the organisation remains agile, accountable and future-focused.

The division oversees the financial health of AEMG & Family Office through rigorous budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting frameworks. It works closely with executive and functional leaders to enable informed decision-making, assess financial risk and optimise the use of organisational resources.

In addition to managing core financial operations, the division supports strategic investment planning and business modelling, ensuring alignment with AEMG’s broader growth objectives and international expansion. It contributes to due diligence, scenario analysis and financial advisory functions across new initiatives, joint ventures and global education projects.

Through its stewardship of financial governance, the division ensures compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards while fostering transparency, strategic foresight and sound financial management across the organisation.

About the Position

The Taxation Business Partner is responsible for overseeing all tax-related compliance, planning and advisory functions across AEMG’s domestic and international operations. This role ensures the organisation meets its tax obligations in all jurisdictions while providing strategic guidance on tax efficiency, risk management and reporting.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Controller and working closely with the broader finance team, the Taxation Business Partner serves as the subject matter expert on taxation matters including corporate tax, GST/VAT, transfer pricing, payroll tax, FBT, WHT and international tax considerations relevant to AEMG’s transnational operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Lead AEMG’s tax compliance strategy across Australia and relevant international jurisdictions, ensuring full alignment with evolving regulatory standards
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual tax obligations (including income tax, GST, FBT, PAYG and payroll tax), ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain strategic relationships with external tax agents and regulatory authorities (e.g., ATO, State Revenue Offices) to ensure smooth resolution of compliance matters

2. Strategic Tax Advisory & Planning

  • Provide forward-looking tax advisory services on business transactions, corporate restructuring and intercompany arrangements
  • Assess tax implications of new and existing strategic initiatives, including transnational education partnerships and expansion projects
  • Conduct scenario modelling for taxation impacts on mergers, expansions or asset transfers
  • Lead the development of tax planning strategies that support business growth while mitigating compliance risk and enhancing financial efficiency

3. Governance, Risk Management & Policy Oversight

  • Champion a tax governance framework that integrates risk management into financial planning and operational execution
  • Proactively interpret changes in domestic and international tax legislation and assess strategic implications for the AEMG Group
  • Conduct risk-based internal reviews and advise senior leadership on strategic responses to potential tax exposures

4. Transfer Pricing Strategy & International Coordination

  • Oversee the development of transfer pricing strategies consistent with OECD guidelines and local requirements
  • Provide guidance on cross-border funding models, related party transactions and treaty compliance
  • Coordinate the preparation of documentation, country-by-country reporting and defence files for use in audit or tax authority review

5. Strategic Business Partnering

  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Finance, Legal, HR and Business Development to evaluate the tax implications of operational decisions, employment structures and commercial contracts
  • Provide thought leadership and insights on how tax intersects with long-term organisational strategy
  • Lead tax knowledge-sharing initiatives and awareness-building across departments to embed best practices

6. Regulatory Engagement & Audit Management

  • Lead AEMG’s strategic engagement with tax authorities during audits, reviews and regulatory inquiries
  • Ensure tax records and disclosures meet audit readiness standards and statutory requirements
  • Collaborate with external auditors on tax-related components of annual audits and financial disclosures

7. Group Structuring & Entity-Level Strategy

  • Provide strategic input into corporate structuring, entity setup and intercompany agreements to optimise tax efficiency and compliance across AEMG’s subsidiaries
  • Work with legal and financial advisors on entity rationalisation, capital flows, and regulatory licensing to support group-level operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • CA/CPA or equivalent professional qualification is desirable
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a taxation or tax advisory role, preferably in a multinational or transnational context
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian tax law (income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax) and familiarity/exposure to international tax frameworks
  • Experience with tax compliance systems, reporting software and financial ERP systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex tax matters to non-specialist stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt to a dynamic operational environment
