AEMG is currently hiring for the position of Teaching Fellow. Successful candidates will be based at one of AEMG’s partner universities in China by mutual agreement, discipline/major and on the needs of the universities (view AEMG map of branch locations on the home page).
The role of the Teaching Fellow involves teaching academic skills to undergraduate students in China. Academic skills include writing essays and research reports, referencing, avoiding plagiarism and critical thinking. The Teaching Fellow is placed with local teachers to plan and facilitate provided curriculum, class management and assessment as a co-teacher. The Teaching Fellow will utilize their discipline of expertise in the discourse when teaching academic skills to the Chinese students so that they become familiar with relevant terms in English. The Teaching Fellow will also utilize their discipline of expertise in delivering lectures, and to support the AEMG portfolio for research led developments as directed.
About you:
Proficient English speaker with an ability to adapt to new approaches and ideas.
Demonstrated ability to understand and facilitate class activities in supporting students in the development of academic culture and skills.
Familiarity with PowerPoint, learning management system and courseware, teaching resources for educational purposes.
4 to 12 months commitment, commencing in September or March each year.
Essential Criteria:
PhD degree holder or near completion of PhD degree in any discipline.
Desirable Criteria:
Teaching experience at a higher education institution
Experience with international non-native English speaking students
Familiarity with contemporary pedagogical trends
Demonstrated use of student-centred approaches and methods in the classroom and online
Interest in Chinese culture, languages, people and learning
